Joleen Rose: Dancing Through Life with Faith, Art, and a Love for Community

Joleen Rose is an artist and community leader whose journey weaves together dance, beauty, and faith. Joleen began dancing at age 5, starting with ballet before eventually finding her place in street dance styles. Dance became more than something she loved to do—it became a way to express herself, build community, and create opportunities for others.

Faced with the challenge of finding a space for her art after high school, Joleen reinvented herself time and again. From working traditional 9-to-5 jobs to pursuing nonprofit dance projects, she sought not just a career but a calling.

In 2012, Joleen founded IDEM Dance, which became the nonprofit organization Defining Movement in 2015. Its mission was to cultivate the arts community by equipping artists with the knowledge, tools, and support needed to take their next step. After more than a decade of building programs, events, and opportunities for artists, Defining Movement came to a close, but much of what Joleen learned through that chapter continues to shape her work today.

Through To The Four, Joleen brings her passions together under one creative hub. From Guidance Kids, introducing young dancers to movement and creativity, to Break Roots, rooted in breaking and Hip-Hop culture, and her beauty and skincare work through Skin Belief, To The Four gives Joleen room to create, serve, and continue building community through the different parts of who she is.

Anchored by her faith in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Joleen continues to use her experiences across dance, beauty, and community work to create opportunities for others. At the heart of it all is a simple desire to create meaningful work, support the people around her, and make room for others to grow.
